Exodus Exodus 6:1-30
Moses had thrown the accusation in God's face — 'you have not delivered your people at all.' God answers with the same verb and seven first-person promises, and at their center stands a word never before spoken by God of himself: 'I will redeem you.'
Genesis Genesis 43:1-34
In Genesis 38 Judah handed Tamar a pledge-object and walked away. In Genesis 43 he stands before his father and pledges himself: 'I myself will be surety for him.' The same Hebrew root, the same man, the direction reversed. That self-pledge unlocks the chapter — and lets Joseph's compassion 'grow warm,' answering with the very word — rachamim, compassion — his father prayed.
